Grace is playing on the 8th grade soccer team. Unlike every other place we've lived, it appears soccer is not that popular for the girls her age here. They didn't have that many girls come out for the team, however they had enough to be good. They had their second game and second win yesterday. The team they played, South Island School, had never played together before and many of the girls had never played soccer before. At half-time Grace's team was up 9-1. Her coach had to give the "we don't want to humiliate the other team" speech. The girls tried to slow down the scoring, but at the same time they were trying not to be too obvious that they were trying not to score. They ended up winning 13-1. Grace played defense, goalie and wing. Goalie is definitely not her favorite, but thankfully there were no shots on her in goal:)
I missed Grace's first game against the Christian Alliance International School. It was while I was in San Diego. They won that game 2-1. She said the other team's goal was scored while she was in goal:) Now I know why she tried to get Meg on the team! Unfortunately Meg was too young. They are very strict about the cut-off dates for eligibility on the different leagues here.
I will say Grace probably has the best coaching she's had since we left Minnesota. They have hired a soccer program to provide the coaching for the school. Grace's coach is a young British man and he does a very nice job.
